SUMMARY

 

The Vice President, Product Management will report directly to the EVP of Product Management and Marketing and within the Sales & Marketing division at QTS.  This strategic role will help build a world class Product Management function within QTS and help drive our strong revenue growth and competitive differentiation to the next level.  This is an excellent opportunity for someone to expand their leadership and gain experience across a broad set of industry leading Hybrid IT products and services.

 

The VP, Product Management will be an outstanding leader with at least seven years of broad based leadership and executive experience as well as extensive time in Product Management roles in the technology industry.  The successful candidate must be a proven business leader with a track record of scaling a technology services/solution business while exceeding goals and objectives. This individual must be hands-on, growth oriented and results driven.  She/he must also be highly collaborative and capable of building an industry-leading team of professionals. 

 

The Vice President, Product Management has line management responsibility for the P&Ls across the assigned portfolio of products and services.  This position will collaborate with leaders in the team covering Product Marketing, Market Strategy and Product Development as well as key leaders across the organization. 

 

This role will be evaluated on the following:

  • Identifying and capturing key market segments to meet and exceed aggressive bookings, revenue and profit growth objectives ($250M+ in annual revenue for assigned business lines)
  • Building sustainable and competitive offerings in the market and enabling deeper market share in Hybrid IT solutions
  • Driving a focus around our differentiating integrated platform approach and building stronger solutions vs. point product offerings.
  • Leading the decisions and planning around QTS’ multi-year strategy, roadmap and portfolio rationalization.
  • Building organizational capability for sustained long-term growth of the company

RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned

  • Product P&L responsibility (revenue and profit) for the core services of Colocation, Connectivity, Cloud, Security and Managed Services
  • Overall responsibility for management and direction of the Product teams and all aspects of product management, including resources, timelines, budget, ROI models, and deliverables
  • Development and execution of the product roadmap, including innovating and launching new products, enhancing or retiring existing products. Leads cross-functional teams across the product life cycle to ensure the product or solution meets customer satisfaction and financial goals
  • Collaborate with the Product Engineering team to prioritize their projects based on customer/market requirements to build/execute an integrated, prioritized product development roadmap
  • Manage client interactions and expectations on new product roll outs
  • Analyze monthly and quarterly performance through all channels: bookings, churn, revenue, gross profit/margin, opex, headcount, and other key operating performance indicators, etc.
  • Oversee financial planning and analysis for the Product Lines including both organic growth and coordinate with Strategic Planning Team the prioritization and due diligence of any potential M&A opportunities
  • Proactively develop and maintain key customer relationships and support our Customer Advisory Board process where necessary

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Seven or more years of experience in Product Management
  • Ten to fifteen years of overall experience; with five or more years of progressive leadership experience as the centralized leader of a product organization in a high growth company.
  • A proven record of accomplishment in running and growing a business with P&L responsibility and a minimum of $100M in revenue accountability
  • Experience as a Sr. Director or Vice President of Product Management or higher at an IT services or product company
  • Bachelor's Degree - MBA or Master’s Degree in in a technology related field a bonus

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Experience with a cloud services provider, colocation, data center and/or connectivity provider
  • Comprehensive understanding of product pricing, demand generation and channel distribution business models, including experience with direct and indirect Sales teams
  • Advanced knowledge of IT systems and products
  • A history of working with product launch processes and agile development methodologies.
  • A strong technology acumen and a deep understanding of current market trends

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

  • Strong analytical and presentation skills; ability to be an evangelist for QTS at industry events, trade shows and leadership conferences
  • Knowledge of financial modeling to include business cases, forecasting and budgeting
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (Communication, Conflict Resolution, Negotiation, etc.) when dealing with internal and/or external audiences at all levels of management
  • Punctual and dependable
