This is a newly created position for an experienced, self-driven Marketing Intelligence Analyst.  The ideal candidate for this role is a critical and creative thinker who knows the cloud, hosting, data center, security, connectivity or managed services industry.  The Marketing Intelligence Analyst helps forecast the demand for future products and is skilled at interpreting market data to support innovative sales and marketing strategies.  The Marketing Intelligence Analyst is an effective communicator who can effectively take a customer, competitor, and market insights and weave them into critical B-to-B Product and Product Marketing deliverables (i.e., requirements documents, market analyses, battle cards and launch plans).

 

The Marketing Intelligence Analyst will build in-depth customer knowledge through market research, segmentation analysis, and customer interviews and participate in the product/solutions requirements gathering and prioritization process.  The Marketing Intelligence Analyst will perform ad hoc research projects on market trends and opportunities and locate data on current events.  QTS is looking for a dynamic professional who can influence QTS business decisions by articulating a strong point of view to internal stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned

  • Manage and enhance marketing intelligence program (including the development of competitive intelligence capabilities) to make it an integral part of the planning process
  • Establish and implement processes, procedures, and policies to improve data gathering, analysis, and intelligence dissemination  
  • Drive the creation of financial models (market sizing/growth, market share) utilizing external and internal resources
  • Research, develop and deploy buyer personas in collaboration with Marketing
  • Formulate market sizing, segmentation and targeting strategies demand generation
  • Monitor competitor movement (i.e., press releases, new products, positioning, stock price, investor news, Gartner quadrants, website changes, SEO, etc.)
  • Produce surveys, interviews, focus group guides and usability studies that can be conducted with either external partners or internal constituents
  • Interpret market intelligence gathered from multiple resources and presented quarterly debriefs
  • Develop mechanisms to consistently deliver information including comparison grids, competitive profiles/snapshots, and dashboards
  • Measure the performance of QTS product offerings
  • Attend industry conferences to uncover relevant information

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, statistics, marketing or equivalent professional experience
  • Seven or more years of experience in data analytics (modeling, reporting, financial/business impacts)
  • Knowledge of primary and secondary research including competitive methodologies and techniques
  • Competitive analysis to identify opportunities for growth and impending risk
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient with reporting and visualization tools (i.e., Excel, Tableau, etc.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Robust command of the cloud, hosting, data center, security, connectivity or managed services landscape and technology, key players and competitors
  • Skilled at analyzing market dynamics including customers, competitors, market trends, technology, and other forces
  • Provide analysis, insights, and recommendations through presentations and written reports to support internal stakeholders in strategic and tactical initiatives
  • Ability to create graphics and other visual presentations that accurately portray the significance of large amounts of complex information
  • Experience overseeing the design and implementation of customer insight programs from survey design and implementation to reporting and analysis
  • Experience contributing to and building buyer personas for highly targeted messaging 

KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to compile, synthesize and assess data and information from numerous sources into cohesive analyses, with strategic implications and thought leadership
  • Significant experience interpreting market intelligence to help forecast current lines of business and to make recommendations for new lines of business
  • Experience building models and performing predictive analytics for customer engagement, customer segmentation, down-stream impact, customer churn, lifetime value (LTV) cross-sell recommendations, win-loss analysis, etc.
  • Develop a fact-based rationale for internal and external stakeholders to develop solutions aimed at resolving critical product and process issues and increasing profitability.
  • Experience developing profound business/buyer insights that inform value props and messaging in content, campaigns and sales enablement materials
