The Leadership Academy Director will be responsible for the operation of our brand new QTS Leadership Academy in Duluth, GA. This role includes the final visionary development of a world-class training and development facility capable of delivering multi-faceted training, learning and development experiences. The Director will lead the completion of the Academy according to the specifications of the executive and development team and ensure its ability to deliver a variety of content across multiple delivery modalities – internal classroom, vendor-facilitated, and on-line – to a diverse audience including new hires, managers, leaders, executives, sales professionals, engineers, technical support, and customer service employees.


The Director will partner directly with our Chief People Officer and CEO while serving as the internal and external brand ambassador of culture, training, and learning and development excellence at QTS.

RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned

  • Implement a strategic learning roadmap to provide new curriculum standards of excellence that 1) promote engaging thought leadership programs across all divisions, 2) align to specific deliverables and learning outcomes, 3) provide flexibility in multiple delivery formats, and 4) map closely to QTS’s culture and values. Roadmap should include a mix of in-house and externally developed curricula with a preference for in-house programs around core culture and leadership topics.
  • Plan and deliver skills-based training specifically designed for positions and job families via both classroom and online media.
  • Design and deliver high-quality entry-level and front-line management training experiences, providing a pipeline of high-caliber and diverse managers across all business units.
  • Plan and deliver leadership development learning across the organization so that highly effective leadership skills and values are established.
  • Ensure our Learning Management System is being applied to learners in a way that maximizes the scope of learning.
  • Partner closely with the development and technology teams to set the vision, lead the design and build process, and complete the Academy according to the stated design specifications. Vision and design will be aligned with the Company’s culture, values and leadership imperatives.
  • Lead the academy’s short and long range vision, organizational goals, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Monitor all programs’ effectiveness and ensure on-going process improvements.
  • Develop and run annual budgets for the academy utilizing input from the executive team, management, and data collected through needs / gaps analysis.
  • Work closely with leaders and stakeholders and strategic external partners to assess business needs and design the overall training strategy to build sustainable skills and capabilities.
  • Through strong connections, ensure that training is both meaningful and impactful.
  • Keep training and development capability and best practices at the forefront - contributing to the profile and reputation of the organization.
  • Ensure that mandatory compliance training is identified, approved and monitored.
  • Establish close relationships with management teams, leading to appropriate local training plans and cost-effective delivery.
  • Develop and implement programs designed to reduce OpEx expenditures including the deployment of a profit center utilizing executive guest speakers, rental of training rooms (when not in use) and studio, and utilization of GA State Tax credits.


  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably within Business, Psychology, Behavioral Science or related field
  • Ten or more years of training experience to include designing and implementing multi-media training and leadership development programs
  • Experience leading an L&D department end to end, with a preference of building from the ground up
  • Demonstrated metric-based achievements within leadership development initiatives



  • Master’s Degree in Business, Psychology, Behavioral Science or related field
  • Executive leadership in an adult academic organization
