As a Solutions Engineer (SE), you will be the primary technical resource for the sales teams and the sales resource for the operations teams. As an SE, your primary responsibility is to meet customer requirements during the evaluation stage of the sales process by providing QTS solutions. You must be able to answer both business and technical questions from customers while demonstrating the benefits of QTS products and services. You will be a direct interface with internal QTS teams in order to assemble and present technical, contractual, and service order information to our customers. This position will report to the Manager, Solutions Engineering.

RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned

Design complex hosting solutions and corresponding services, working with sales personnel in response to customer needs with minimal supervision.
Present advanced technical concepts in a clear manner to customers through demonstrations, technical review, and design/proposal presentations. Must be able to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
Work with operational staff as it relates to initiatives that affect the Solutions Engineering Team.
Respond to functional and technical elements of RFPs


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Four or more years of experience in Sales Engineering, preferably focused on managed services and custom designed solutions or applicable customer facing experience
  • Two or more years of experience working in data center infrastructure (space, power, connectivity) or equivalent experience


  • Three or more years of experience with cloud, managed services, storage, backup, security, and/or networking


  • Strong desire and self-motivated to learn and expand knowledge of technical and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to demonstrate strong analytical capabilities and technical knowledge by providing innovative yet supportable solutions.
  • Excellent written and presentation communication skills with the capacity to articulate complex technical topics to varying customer audiences (administrators to executives).
  • Work Style: Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
