The Category Manager is responsible for developing, executing, and managing corporate technology related sourcing initiatives.  You will perform research and sophisticated data analysis to identify new sourcing & other cost optimization opportunities to generate cost savings for the QTS technology category.  You will be responsible for negotiating competitive programs & communicating the value propositions associated with category proposals to senior management.  This role will call for an evaluation of the existing organizational monetary approval hierarchy to maximize efficiency, remove bottlenecks, improve the speed of delivery to end customers and yet retain any compliance requirements. You will be accountable for and held to a standard of savings measurement that is consistent with the industry (ex: 4X).

RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned

Leveraging your consulting experience, you will partner with Senior Executives to develop strategies necessary to:

  • Generate 20%+ organizational growth
  • Expand our footprint both domestically and internationally
  • Reimagine our approach to data centers to create new designs for meeting future market needs
  • Enhance our industry-leading customer service among 1200+ world-class customers
  • Reinvent our business processes to drive new levels of productivity
  • Engage our supply base in new ways to maximize value creation

CORE COMPETENCIES

  1. Intersect – Able to bring together multiple people from multiple levels and functions across multiple companies/cultures to create value.
  2. Invent – Able to align the strategic direction of QTS and supplier(s).  Set category strategy
  3. Invest – Able to get supplier and QTS to layout the plans necessary to improve the commercial terms and supplier performance.  Negotiate better deals.
  4. Act – Holds suppliers accountable for delivering on their contracts or better.  Delivers savings and efficiency improvements.
  5. Adjust – Lead quarterly reviews that improve the capability of the supply chain

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Business Administration, Management, Operations, Finance, or equivalent professional work experience
  • Five years of experience in strategic sourcing: market and data analysis, long-term strategy development, strategic sourcing, negotiations, and supplier selection 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two or more years of management consulting experience preferably focused on IT projects
  • Procurement certification (e.g., ISM CPM, CPSM, CPSD)
  • Experience in technology, managed services, semiconductor, or energy sectors 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as Six Sigma, and other process improvement techniques.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey intricate and detailed information
  • Ability to organize, interpret, and draw appropriate conclusions from large volumes of data and to creatively present the information in a manner that enables managers to understand the information easily.
  • An Enthusiastic attitude in a team environment and ability to work independently.
  • Comfort teaming with all levels of an organization, including presenting to senior executives
