As an Solutions Engineer (SE), you will be the primary technical resource for a team of Inside Sales Account Executives and an existing customer base. As an SE, your primary responsibility is to understand existing customer IT environments and to probe for and discover new opportunities and requirements. Following this process, you will be tasked with creating and positioning solutions that will consist of colocation, cloud services, complex managed cloud environments, and hybrid IT solutions. You must be able to answer both business and technical questions from customers while demonstrating the benefits of QTS products and services. You will be a direct interface with internal QTS teams in order to assemble and present technical, contractual, and service order information to our customers. This position will report to the Director of Sales Engineering or their designee.

RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned

  • Demonstrate QTS products and services to customers
  • Design technology-based solutions
  • Respond to functional and technical elements of RFPs
  • Drive sales activity forward to closure

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Four or more years of experience in Sales Engineering or customer facing engineering roles (ex. Systems Engineer, Technical Account Manager), preferably focused on colocation/infrastructure/cloud
  • Experience working in data center infrastructure (space, power, connectivity) or equivalent experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three or more years of experience with cloud, managed services, storage, backup, security, and/or networking

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of selling cloud/virtualized IT environments
  • Knowledge of space, power, and cooling technologies for collocation, cloud computing environments, and network technologies
  • Ability to properly communicate to both external and internal customers
  • Problem Solving: Advanced analytical skills. Must be able to work through complex issues with a methodical approach. Advanced ability to graphically depict solutions in a compelling manner.
  • Work Style: Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers and with QTS teams
