    QTS is seeking a talented Electrical Technician I for our Santa Clara, CA Data Center.  This person will be responsible for all aspects of operations for low and medium voltage plants along with maintenance and repair of all Electrical and Critical Power Systems and Associated Process Systems.  One must have experience with all aspects of but not limited to: electrical circuitry, electric controls, switch gear controls, UPS systems, UPS system batteries, emergency power generators, automatic transfer switches, running conduit, pulling wire and cable, calculating electrical loads, electric metering and monitoring, in-depth knowledge of codes, regulations and all required and applied safety standards and practices.

    RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned

    • Driving, installing, doing maintenance and preventative maintenance, repair, service, troubleshooting, fabrication, cutting and burning
    • Must be able to use all hand power tools, all hand tools including pipe cutting, threading machines and tools associated with the trade
    • Must be able to lift 50 to 75 pounds repetitively
    • Must be able to reach and work overhead, crawl, work bent over, jump, stand for hours and work from ladders and scaffolding         
    • Skills-parts and accessories include: transformers, electric switchgear, automatic transfer switches, UPS system, UPS battery systems, motors, open and molded case breakers, electric circuits, electric heating coils, controls of all types and electrical materials of all types

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • High School Diploma, electrical trade school or military electrical training. 
    • Three or more years of electrical experience, preferably in a data center or other related critical environment

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • General Journeyman Electrician License preferred

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Ability to pass job-related skills assessments based on pre-determined scoring criteria and time frames.
    • Ability to acquire and apply job-related knowledge within set guidelines and expectations.
    • Position may involve frequent typing, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching and lifting.  Lifting requirements may range from <10 lbs. - 50 lbs. on a regular basis, with heavier weights done in conjunction with other individuals or lifting aids.
    • Work from ladders and scaffolding
    • Ability to use all hand power tools, all hand tools including pipe cutting, threading machines and tools associated with the trade
    • Related computer skills include Visio, Windows, Excel, Word etc.
