    SUMMARY


    The Logistics Technician is responsible for using established standard operating procedures and policies, this position is responsible for internal and third party (customer) logistics which include shipping and receiving, and inventory and asset management. Will be primarily responsible for assisting customers on the Data Center floor both in person and via the telephone, performing customer
    equipment storage, managing tickets within the define ticketing system, communicating and escalating alerts and customer requests to DCO engineers for resolution. In order to resolve unique Logistic related challenges and to promote growth in individual employee skill sets, other duties and responsibilities will be assigned by management as needed. The statements below are intended to describe the general duties, responsibilities, skills, and qualifications associated with this position. They also generalize the level of work expected from individuals assigned to this position.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned

    • Physical shipping and receiving
    • Physical inventory
    • Delivery inspection
    • Detailed documentation of incoming / outgoing deliveries, and equipment removals
    • Stocking, organized placement of deliveries received
    • Assist with setting Logistics standards for managed services and making upgrade support and recommendations
    • Improved system and user performance and respond to and correct database problems
    • Management and completion of assigned incidents and tasks
    • Pro-actively monitor and analyze database performance and make recommendations for change
    • Review published notices from database vendors, review database logs, analyze statistic reports, review user experience and client feedback to identify areas for improvement
    • Create and forward data reports
    • Packaging
    • Billing
    • Purchase order receiving
    • Recycling and waste management
    • Manage Tickets
      • This includes ensuring tickets are being opened, worked and escalated based on set standards
      • Review all resolved tickets to ensure properly documented resolution
      • Ensure details of the problems and steps taken to resolve ticket are documented
    • Maintain accurate and detailed logs within the established ticketing system for customer calls and system alerts, as well as for communication and escalation steps taken to ensure prompt
      resolution of data center facility, network and customer related issues
    • Install cabinets and customer equipment based on documentation provided by provisioning and established Data Center Operation procedures
    • Work with customers, other systems engineers, and management to communicate ticket status
    • Conduct daily activities in a safe and compliant manner

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • One or more years’ experience in logistics related functions (shipping & receiving, inventory control, forklift experience)

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

     

    • Minimum of one-year experience working in a Data Center, NOC or similar help desk environment


    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

     

    • Must have excellent telephone communication skills, customer service, verbal, and written skills along with good grammar and the ability to take accurate notes are required
    • Must be capable of handling multiple simultaneous tasks under pressure while maintaining strong customer service and professionalism
    • Proficiency of Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, Outlook,  etc
    • Proficiency of ServiceNow or related ticketing application
    • Experience with scripting tasks to automate database maintenance, monitoring and backup activity
    • Experience in maintaining database integrity and security
    • Experience in performance tuning at the database and object levels 
    • Experience with database backups strategies
    • Experience with setting up high availability environments and disaster recovery sites
    • Experience with database migrations and upgrades
    • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds
    • Due to safety must wear steel toe shoes or boots
    • Experience with pallet jacks, forklifts, and other related industrial equipment
    • Good verbal, written, and customer service oriented communication skills
    • Must be able to work well with others as well as independently without constant direct supervision
    • Experience using scanners and/or handheld computers
    • Safety consciousness
    • Detail and organization oriented
