    The Mechanical Lead Technician is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of the mechanical systems at Quality Technology Services. This role will perform preventative and corrective maintenance on all mechanical equipment and assist in other facilities-related processes, including but not limited to maintenance, the development and implementation of procedures, and emergency response. This role will work with the facilities staff to develop metrics that show the performance of the mechanical systems, and will regularly submit reports on these indicators. This role will suggest, plan, and implement measures that increase the energy efficiency of the facility. This role is also responsible for team lead responsibilities including on-the-job training, mentoring, and assisting with staffing job assignments.

    RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned

    • Perform periodic maintenance and repairs on facility mechanical equipment, including CRAC units, pumps, motors, chillers, cooling towers, pneumatic controls, etc.
    • Perform regular walkthroughs of the facility to ensure the proper operation of all facilities-related equipment and systems.
    • Respond to facilities-related emergencies, including HVAC equipment failures, fire alarm response, etc. This includes response to emergencies after-hours and on weekends.
    • Participate in the planning and execution of facilities-related maintenances and construction projects.
    • Participate in the preparation and implementation of standard operating procedures and emergency response procedures for facilities-related equipment.
    • Monitor work performed by facilities vendors and contractors.
    • Assist other members of the facilities department as needed.
    • Provide updates and reporting to the Facilities Leadership Team.
    • Lead, train, assist with development and coaching of other employees.
    • May require 24x7x365 on call responsibilities

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • Four or more years data centers experience or equivalent
    • Universal, Journeyman HVAC licenses, Master HVAC license, QTS certification CET Level III certification or equivalent

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Associates degree in Business, Engineering, Architecture, Military Schooling or 10+ years related work experience preferred
    • Apprenticeship completion subject area: Mechanical and/ or Electrical. QTS MGT 101, CPR, AED

    • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to function in a team environment
    • The ability to pass job-related skills assessments based on pre-determined scoring criteria and time frames
    • The ability to acquire and apply job-related knowledge within set guidelines and expectations
    • Related computer skills including Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Clarizen, eMaint, ServiceNow.
    • Position may involve frequent typing, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching and lifting. Lifting requirements may range from <10 lbs. - 50 lbs. on a regular basis, with heavier weights done in conjunction with other individuals or lifting aids.
